I keep adding Mass Mobilization to many of my prescriptions for Nigeria to move ahead, because in my thinking, the idea by which a few people in government think they can solve the problems for the rest, is foolish. Nigerians must be rallied and constantly spokne to, and incentivised (monetarily and otherwise), towards the great goals we have set for ourseleves. There are too many spaces that governance have skirted and neglected in this country. Everyday, the minds of our people are usurped and saturated with negativity, deceit, destruction of the nation, infrastructure etc, get-rich-quick schemes, ritual killings, ethnic and religious bigotry etc.
So, in response to one person who thought my idea and call for mass mobilization is about sending people to the farm, i thought a bit around the subject and listed other areas where we need mass mobilization. I think there will be value around having a good number of youths especially, trained to talk about the value of unity and productivity. Yes, the NYSC and NOA were formed for that purpose, but their failure does not vitiate the need for mass mobilization. If we truly know what our issues are, and the new issues that climb on top of those every day, we will realise that mobilization is key. When no positive messages are being beamed to society, boko haram, ESN, ritual killing for fake money, yahoo yahoo, olosho (runs girls), etc will take over.
So, please help me add to those areas where mass mobilization may be useful. For me, this morning, they are:
sacrifice to the motherland?
environmental awareness and cleanups?
buying and producing local?
saying no to drug use?
dignity of labour?
a better image for nigeria?
a greater future for the fatherland?
sharing with the poor?
basic education for all?
skills to solve our problems?
politics about issues?
a whole army could be built around these issues and more. and the Nigerian youth will feel like being part of the solution. this is positive engagement that creates positive, productive, responsible adults
perhaps i am talking about a cultural revolution… a revolution of ideas and positivism. i remain optimistic
please help me add to the areas in the comments section. nobody knows it all
