TALKING ABOUT FAKE DOCTORAL DEGREES

August 22, 2015by Tope Fasua0

I was offered a Doctoral Degree – on a platter – by one Commonwealth University of Belize, through London Graduate School. The letter, signed by one Prof David Iornem, spoke about having noticed my contributions to blah blah blah. (i will look for it and post if i haven’t since shredded it).

All i had to do was pay about $9,500 or so, and some other fees, and come to one hotel in Dubai for one week for some intensive training after which i would – among other people – be awarded a proper PhD. I was tempted, but only for a few minutes. After much thought, i declined, and just ignored the letter. That was in 2013. In 2014, i received the same letter, only that by now, it was obvious to me that this was a ploy to cream off money from people. Most of the people who go to get their PhDs from that CUB (Commonwealth University, Belize), are Nigerians. A friend of mine, who loves the limelight and is into this ‘Leadership’ racket, announced to the world in 2014 that he was going to get this PhD. Mind you, this LGS/CUB racket doen’t call their own ‘Honorary’. They let you know upfront that they have the right. But if you know that a PhD is not meant to be picked from the ground, you should take caution. Alas, most Nigerians are ‘chancers’. Many are money-miss-roads who make so much corruption dollars that it soon starts to get to their heads. Dr this. Professor that.

Many Nigerians are prancing about with PhDs from these types of places. Shamelessly. in fact, with a sense of entitlement. I once saw a textbook written by one Professor. I was impressed. But when i flipped the back to see the bio, i saw that this man didn’t even pass through any formal university education and also obtained his Professorship from one of these phonies. A friend here on facebook wrote glowingly about an otherwise respected public servant a couple of days back – i’m trying to remember who exactly – but i was shocked that that man only possesses one of this David Iornem-infused Commonwealth Belize Doctorates! Chai! Maybe the Fowler case will bring attention to this. Though his is a honorary degree but what temerity made him start to answer Dr Fowler kwa? My bros, Dele Momodu has an even more prestigious Honorary Degree from Ife, but has never called himself Dr.

Anyway, i went online and did some research on this CUBS only to find out that the Prof David Iornem was arrested and paraded by ICPC last year for disseminating fake degrees. They may have dropped the charge, because i think that scam still continues. Some of the ‘Doctors’ produced under this scam includes Boyloaf and i think Genevieve Nnaji or her husband, among others. Now, i have to check properly to see where people get their PhDs from, and how long it took. Enjoy…

Mind you, this ‘Prof’ Iornem was once a sin-ator in this Obodo Nigeria, full of fake people barraging their way into money and power. Kontinu
