I feel like a woman in a manic relationship. Used and abused. Traumatised, despoiled, raped and insulted. On a daily basis. I wish i could find another partner. But for me, Nigeria is the only option i have. Hence i trudge on, hoping one day I will see the back of the enemies with whom i must share this matrimony. Hoping i will enjoy some bliss within this space… if only for a while.
For now, all i can do is cry out. I can no longer mind my own business and pretend that all is well. I cannot drink some Kool-aid, and pray myself to sleep, in the hope that the life after now will be paradise. I cannot. I must fight back the illogic, the insanity of it all.
Nigeria under Jonathan has killed two or three Shekaus. Now it hopes to capture the third or fourth. I hear they intend to keep the Shekau in some secret cell, and claim that he has confessed that their greatest nightmare – Buhari – is their sponsor… These Treasurers/Cashiers/Accountants, who have been collecting contributions from the community and are now so afraid to proceed on leave, lest the frauds they have perpetuated may be discovered.
How so terrible. We ‘elected’ a government, to secure Nigerians. they instead let 20,000 die… very cheaply… including that girl in Jos, who was the best student in her class… blown to smithereens. Her project supervisor had delayed a few of them. Otherwise they’d have been home with their parents. Her name was Lydia… She was passionate about Nigeria. But our leaders played politics instead. And let her down.
They refused to kill Shekau… they treated Boko Haram with ‘kids gloves’. They found Boko Haram members in their cabinet. Yet no one of substance was arrested. Now, they have purchased six precious weeks for themselves. It’s a little over 4 left. They have sworn that Nigeria will never see good fortune. Not in this lifetime, they roar…
Now, they are ready they say. They will trump Chad and Niger. They have suddenly become so intelligent, nifty, and wily… And like a long lost cub, they will pluck Shekau without a shot being fired, and bring him to us… alive. Yes, that monster, who kills indiscriminately, who lays to waste, the old and the young, muslim and christian, man, woman, boy and girl, will be captured… alive… In fact, his Miranda Rights will be read to him clear and crisp …”YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT… ANYTHING YOU SAY MAY AND WILL BE HELD AGAINST YOU”… They may even treat him, after killing 20,000 and displacing 2,000,000, with a dollop of the Geneva Conventions for Prisoners of War. They will even offer him a cuppa tea. Maybe a couple of beers and a smoke. We all knew he was high on something. That swear word, Shekau. And he may end up.. spending a few years in jail… and probably becoming a PDP chieftain.
For it now suits a political purpose.
